Song: Ye Zindagi Ke Mele, Ye Zindagi Ke Mele
Duniya Me Kam Na Honge, Afsos, Ham Na Honge ....

        Film: Mela (1948)
        Music: Naushad
        Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni
        Singer: Mohammad Rafi
        *ing: Dilip Kumar, Nargis

Mohammad Rafi, sung only one song for the film. No, not for Dilip
Kumar, but left a lasting impression on listeners. It's difficult
to decide what is more beautiful here: Rafi's singing or
Shakeel's lyrics ?!

All other songs were by Shamshad and Mukesh. And yes, one song
was also sung by Johara Ambalawali -- who sung her last song for
this composer, who has always dumped his singers in his career.
Mukesh would see that soon in an years time, but right now, Miyan
Naushad is sailing well on Mukesh song-waves created through
their joint efforts of Anokhi Ada! Well, that Joharabai song was
.... umm, forgot :( Can someone help me here ?

I can't believe Naushad just forgot her in two years. It was not
too long ago when she brought some beautiful songs for Naushad in
Sanyasi (1946).

Mukesh sung a solo and three duets with Shamshad. 'Gayeja Geet
Milan Ke' is still hit, probably. Duets were

        Aayi Sawan Rut Aayi

Tu Bhanwara Main Hun Gul and
        Mera Dil Todane Waale

I like them in decreasing order. First one carries a stamp of
master composer who has shown he was king of folk-based songs.

Besides, Shamashad and Mukesh sung a mini-song -- a tandem one

        Dharati Ko Akaash Pukaare

A vintage Naushad song. Particularly orchestration after the
Shamshad version is exceptionally good.

Shamshad sung some very good solos. The one that I remember now
is 'Qismat Bigadi Duniya Hame Barbaad Kiya'
