Posting Date: 28 Jul 1998 19:25:16 -0700 Hi Folks, Now comes the final chapter of RJGK-44 on "Lovely Couplets". The answers and the results.... So, here are the much awaited results. The response was good. In all there were about 29 teams and 43 participants. I wish to thank all the netters for making this quiz a success. I fully enjoyed the whole experience. The rest of this post is organized as follows. :) First, we have the list of participants, followed by some general comments from the participants and myself about the quiz. Then, we have the answers to the quiz. The post concludes with the results (rankings). Participants (29 teams/43 participants) ============ Jay Shergill Vijay Kumar Tabassum Hizafi Ramakrishnan Krishnana Sarita and Shalini Singh Neeraj Malhotra and Prince Kohli Neha Desai and Vandana Lacky Shah Swapna Hawaldar Satish Subramanian Anand Tiwari Preeti Ranjan Panda Angshuman Bezbaruah Vijay, Amita, and Sunil Bhatia Ikram Khan and Kalyan Kolachala Balaji and Malini Murthy Amol Dighe, Hemalata Khemani, and Anurabha Roy (A-HA) Ankur Rastogi Divya-Rahul-Sweta Sexana Radhika Woodruff and Manjula K. Shyamali and Jaydeep Manish Prabhu Roopa (Sanju/Babli) Samiuddin Mohammed Mohan Rathore Chetan Vinchhi Fazel Haris Dhanashri SJ Vinay Chande GENERAL COMMENTS ================ 1. Short clues: ----------- One of the main criticism was that some of the clues were too short (one line), especially as the theme was supposed to be "couplets" (= two line clues). In defense (:)), I would say that all the so called one-line clues had a pretty good hit ratio (~ number of people who got the clue). So, they weren't really difficult. Including surrounding lines in those clues would have only mercilessly buried the lovely part, defeating the whole purpose. Yes, I did take the liberty to include some non-couplets in the quiz. So, if taken literally, the theme should instead have been "Lovely Lines".......but wouldn't sound very appealing .. would it? haha Anyway, I chose the theme two years ago...and stuck with it. :) 2. Easy/Difficult: -------------- Contrary to what I thought, the quiz didn't turn out to be very easy. Maybe, because I didn't include much P-stat information with many clues, and most regular rmimers feel at loss without additional Pstat information. Instead, most of the additional information was in the form of cryptic sub-clue hinting at the movie names and/or the mukhDa. And, there *were* a few who felt the quiz was relatively very easy. Plus, the average hit ratio (for clues 1-30) of 70% is very good. To quote a few cribbus....:) Satish >> The questions seemed tough. More clues/lines would have helped. Preeti Ranjan>> You are kidding! You should have provided more clues. [On my comment, that the quiz is one of the easier ones.] Chetan >> I had only one problem with your quiz - I could not identify a theme or a common thread between the songs. That made it very difficult to look for a song if the clue did not click. Added to that, the fact that you gave very little extra information did not help! Arunabha>> Thanks for keeping the difficulty level so that mere mortals could also take a shot at it and simultaneously not too easy (so that mere mortals could also delude themselves into thinking they had got sufficiently enough clues of a non-trivial quiz ) ;-) Shyamali>> The clues were easy in parts and sometimes quite cryptic ! Tabassum>> Your quiz as you said was really easy, most of the songs were popular enough to track without any help of sub clue. It was great fun to solve it, songs were nice ( except one or two). 3. Miscellaneous Comments: ---------------------- Apart from the above minor (!) criticism, most people enjoyed the quiz. Let me quote a few here.... Vinay >> BTW, from the songs that I could figure out, it was a very beautiful collection of couplets. Ankur >> It was really a nice quiz, though some of the song I could not guess, but nevertheless, like you mentioned, the purpose is to fall more in love with the poetry inherent in these songs. Ikram >> Some of the couplets were indeed nice, even 'lovely'!! Fazel >> Quite interesting one. Excellent choices of couplets. I enjoyed reading the ones that I have never heard before. Arunabha>> The cluing was almost as interesting as the quiz itself. Shyamali >> We really enjoyed doing the quiz. You have selected a wide variety of wonderful lyrics. Thanks for reminding us of so many beautiful songs. The clues were easy in parts and sometimes quite cryptic ! Dhanashri >> good lyrics with good music, do make a permanent impression somewhere and this quiz has helped to refresh those impressions. 4. Retrospect ---------- In retrospect, I think, the quiz would have been better without the toughies section. The clues therein didn't really serve the purpose, as the quiz was difficult enough without them. Plus, they had little lyrical value and only made the quiz lengthier. Ah well...:) Of course, someone here thinks different...:) Fazel>> I would have scored better if you had 30 toughies and 5 easies. ================================================================================== %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Rmim Jhim Geeton Ki - 44 Lovely Couplets ANSWERS ======= %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Within each clue, I have tried to explain the cryptic part, if any, (using the implication "==>" sign). Before the P-stats, is the hit ratio (number of correct responses/total number of teams). Then some comments after the Pstats. ------------------------------- 1. Tere husn par hai meri nazar, mujhe subah shaam ki kyaa khabar Meri shaam hai teri justjuu, meri subah tera khayaal hai What can I tell you about my all time favorite lines? Its the last phrase which makes them truly beautiful. From Majrooh Sultanpuri. [19/29] Song: Tujhe kyaa sunaayuN aye dilarubaa, tere saamane mera haal hai teri ek nigaah ki baat hai, meri zindagi ka sawaal hai.. Film: Aakhari Daav Singer(s): Rafi Music: Madan Mohan Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri Vijay K.>> Did you have to start with a plagiarised tune? The only thing I can hold against Madan Mohan, ever. Tabassum >> Nice start, though a adopted song but beatiful lyric and so nicely sung by Rafi. Me >> Who cares if Madan Mohan plagiarised it? :) He never denied it. Majrooh at his best. The third stanza is almost equally wonderful...... "Mere dil-e-jigar mein samaa bhi jaa Rahe kyon nazar ka bhi faaslaa Ki tere begair aye jaan-e-jahaan Mujhe zindagi bhi muhaal hai" --------------------------------- 2. Maana ki jaan-e-jahaan, laakhon mein tum ek ho hamari nigaahon ki bhi kuchh to magar daad do, bahaaron ko bhi naaz jis phuul par tha vahii phuul hamane chunaa gulsitaan se Where did Shammi Kapoor learn to be so romantic ? After all, its only the heart's. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Dil hi to hai". [20/29] Song: NiGaahen milaane ko jii chaahataa hai Film: Dil hi to hai Singer(s): Asha and chorus Music: Roshan Lyrics: Sahir Arunabha >> What a song ! Hats off to Roshan and Asha. The lines you have picked are in fact my favourite from this qawwalii. The way she enunciates ishq gives me goose pimples everytime, that too with the ishq being strategically placed at the end of the line. --------------------------------- 4. Kahin to ye dil kabhi mil nahin paate Kahin se nikal aayen janmon ke naate [28/29] Song: Kahin duur jab din Dhal jaaye Film: Anand Singer(s): Mukesh Music: Salil Chowdhury Lyrics: Yogesh --------------------------------- 5. jab bhi khayaalon meN tu aaye, mere badan se khushboo aaye Mahke badan mein raha naa jaaye..... Burman Lyrics: Gulzar Shyamali >> Simple lyrics, uncomplicated music . Simplicity at its best ! Me >> Not sure about the "simple lyrics" part. But, only Gulzar is capable of such poetry. :) --------------------------------- 6. Thora-thora dil pe hai jawaani ka nasha, us pe phir nasha hai ye tere pyaar ka Two levels of nasha. That too with just a little bit of drink. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "ThoDi si jo pii lii hai.." [19/29] Song: ThoDii sii jo pii lii hai, chorii to nahiin kii hai Film: Namak Halal Singer(s): Kishore Music: Bappi Lahiri Lyrics: ?? --------------------------------- 7. Har pal meri in aankhon mein, bus rahte hain sapne unke Man kahtaa hai main rangon ki ek pyaar bhari badli ban ke Barsuun unke aangan mein....... Very beautiful indeed. The movie is named after some kind of flowers. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Rajnigandha" [23/29] Song: Rajniigandha phuul tumhaare mahake yuuN hii jiivan men Film: Rajnigandha Singer(s): Lata Music: Salil Chowdhury Lyrics: Yogesh --------------------------------- 8. main bhi hoshmand hun, tu bhi hoshmand hai us tarah jiyenge hum, jis tarah pasand hai Pyaar kiya to Darna kya ? It only happens once in a while. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The first part hints at the mukhDa, while "once in a while" hints at "Kabhi-Kabhi". [20/29] Song: Pyaar kar liyaa to kyaa pyaar hai Kataa nahiin Film: Kabhi-kabhi Singer(s): Kishore Music: Khaiyyam Lyrics: Sahir --------------------------------- 9. Duniyaa ko ho auron ki dhun, humko to hai saaqi se kaam! Very bluntly put. Dedicated to his friend ... his companion. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Mere humdum mere dost". Ahh, chhoDo sharmana..aise mausam mein tabiyat kyon nihaal karti ho! Hint: Bhari mehfil mein tumhen pyaar karen to kyaa ho? [21/29] Song: Jaaneman tum kamaal karate ho Film: Trishul Singer(s): Kishore, Lata Music: Khaiyyam Lyrics: Sahir --------------------------------- 11. Main saans letaa hun, teri khushbuu aati hai Ever heard of the movie "Kala Aadmi" ? :) ^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Black Male" ==> "Blackmail". [27/29] Song: Pal pal dil ke paas, tum rahatii ho Film: Blackmail Singer(s): Kishore Music: Kalyanji Anandji Lyrics: Rajinder Krishan Shyamali>> Kaala Aadmi .. ha ha.. . Shouldn't it be kaala chitthi or something ? --------------------------------- 12. ye to bataa kahaan rakhun ye ka.nwal, zindagaani hai meri ret ka ek mahal Can you think of an Amitabh movie, with not "the great" himself, but Dev Anand in it? ==> "The Great Gambler" without "The Great" ==> "Gambler". [17/29] Song: Apane honThon kii bansii banaa le mujhe Film: Gambler Singer(s): Kishore, Lata Music: S.D. Burman Lyrics: Neeraj Tabassum>> The sub clue was superb, it made it too easy to recollect the song --------------------------------- 13. Tere daaman se jo aaye, un hawaayon ko salaam Chuum lun main us zubaan ko, jispe aaye teraa naam Sabse pyaari subah teri .. sabse rangin teri shaam A patriotic song. The movie is about someone from Afghan. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Kabuliwala" [24/29] Song: Ai mere pyaare vatan, ai mere bichhaDe chaman....tujahpe dil qurbaan Film: Kabuliwala Singer(s): Manna Dey Music: Salil Chowdhury Lyrics: Prem Dhawan Hemlata>> I was under the impression that this quiz contains only romantic couplets! Anyway, good choice. Awesome song, picturized on an equally awesome actor and sung by an equally awesome singer. The lament and longing in Manna Dey's voice makes this song all the more admirable. And allof these are IMOs --------------------------------- 14. mastii hai jisame pyaar kii, tum vo sharaab ho The _first_ few characters of this clue have been carefully chosen. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ===> "14" ==> "ChaudaviN..." [What else could I carefully choose, except for the clue number!] [27/29] Song: Chaudahavin kaa chaand ho yaa aafataab ho jo bhii ho tum khudaa kii qasam laajavaab ho Film: Chaudaviin ka chaand Singer(s): Rafi Music: Ravi Lyrics: Shakeel Dhanashri>> Too easy, the cryptic clue was more difficult to crack. Me>> Incidentally, not many understood the cryptic part. But, what else could I carefully *choose*, except for the clue number! --------------------------------- 15. F: o chhoTe se saajnaa, tu baate kartaa hai baDi! If you were to listen to the full stanza, it seems its the woman who is being naughty. I swear! ^^^^^ ==> ".... Kasam" [13/29] Song: Ham jis raste pe chale us raste pe thii priit khaDii Film: Teri Kasam Singer(s): Amit Kumar, Lata Music: R.D. Burman Lyrics: Anand Bakshi Roopa >> Is it "dekh kasam se, kasam se, kehte hain tumse haan"? I don't think so, but what the heck. Ikram >> What do you mean - aren't hosts supposed to give the full stanza as the clue?? Popular Comment>> How could have this in the "Lovely Couplets" quiz ?? Me>> I think its very cute (the female teasing her saajan in such a way). --------------------------------- 16. UnDhi ghaTaa ke saaye tale chhup jayeN... Ambar to kyaa hai, taaron ke bhi lab chhuu leN..... The above two lines are in different stanzas of the song. Both express unique desires of a dreamy heart. Here's a rather twisted hint. What's half of "two fat ladies" ? Somebody's home number? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> half of "88" ==> 44 ==> "House No. 44" [21/29] Song: Phaili huii hai sapanon kii baahen aajaa chal de kahiin duur Film: House No. 44 Singer(s): Lata Music: S.D. Burman Lyrics: Sahir Hemlata>> Beautiful lyrics indeed. --------------------------------- 17. Dil ko mere huaa yakin, hum pahle bhi mile kahin sil-sila ye sadiyon ka, koi aaj ki baat nahin I hope I'm not committing a crime by including this song (from a much-hated singer on rmim). ^^^^^ ==> "Jurm" [18/29] Song: Jab koi baat bigaD jaaye, jab koi mushqil paD jaaye.. Film: Jurm Singer(s): Kumar Sanu, Sadhana Sargam Music: Rajesh Roshan Lyrics: Indeevar-Payam Ikram >> Yes, you are committing a crime by including this song. --------------------------------- 18. Ek sirf ham hi mai ko aankhon se pilaate hain Kahne ko to duniyaa mein mehkhaane hazaaro hain [25/29] Song: In aaNkhon kii masti ke mastaane hazaaron hain Film: Umrao Jaan Singer(s): Asha Music: Khaiyyam Lyrics: Shahryar Me >> This was such an easy clue, that I was almost tempted to quote ones who didn't get this. :) --------------------------------- 19. Yaad tu aaye, man ho jaaye bhiiD ke beech akela This song comes in reply to his beloved's complaint on not writing any letters. And, listen to what he has to say. Wow! [23/29] Song: Phuulon ke rang se dil kii qalam se tujhako likhii roz paatii Film: Prem Pujari Singer(s): Kishore Music: S.D. Burman Lyrics: Neeraj Comments: Sami >> Excellent line!! Anand Tiwari >> Perhaps one of the best songs ever, lyrics wise. This is a very honest opinion and it is not at all influenced by the song being picturized on Dev. The singing by KK is in a class by itself. The song is botched up by Dev's pathetic cinematic imagination. He did a better job with "Shokhiyon mein ghola jaaye". I wish i could repicturize this song. No sentiment of this song is properly conveyed by dev anand's direction. If you have a line like "Yaad tu aaye, man ho jaaye, bheed ke beech akela", you got to come up with something to match the beauty of such marvellous Hindi poetry. Me >> Though the song as a whole is very nice, this is the only line/stanza that is beautiful in itself (only my opinion). --------------------------------- 20. meiN kaise khuuda-hafiz kah duN, mujhko to kisi kaa yakeen nahi chhup jao hamaari aankhoN meN....[I can't even trust God!] In case you are wondering, its NOT a Raj Kumar starrer. ^^^^^^^^^ ==> Movie name "Rajkumar" [15/29] Song: Is rang badalatii duniyaa men inasaan kii niiyat Thiik nahiin Film: Rajkumar Singer(s): Rafi Music: Shankar Jaikishan Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri Shyamali >> Got the (cryptic) clue after we got the song! Roopa >> Although I think you should strike this off your list of lovely couplets! Rather melodramatic and a bit idiotic, I've always thought. But I'm sure you don't agree. --------------------------------- 21. Ruuth kar pahle jee bhar sataayungi main! Jab manaayenge woh maan jaayungi main... Maan jayungi main....lekin dheere dheere! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> hints at the mukhDa. [22/29] Song: Dhiire dhiire machal...aye dil-e-bekaraar...koii aataa hai Film: Anupama Singer(s): Lata Music: Hemant Kumar Lyrics: Kaifi Azmi Fazel >> It's shayari like this that makes life so hard for us men. Oh yeah, I don't have an answer. Me >> Oh, trust me, reality is even worse! At least, in this couplet, she is eventually willing to concede ... "maan jaayungi main". --------------------------------- 22. tum mujh se, main dil se pareshaaN, dono hain majabuur aise men kisako, kaun manaaye ? [24/29] Song: Din Dhal jaaye haay raat na jaaye tuu to na aaye terii yaad sataaye Film: Guide Singer(s): Rafi Music: S.D. Burman Lyrics: Shailendra Anand Tiwari>> Just contrast the picturization of this song with "Phoolon ke rang se". The way Goldie creates the situation. Dev's dialouge prior to the song "Zindagi bhi ek nasha hai dost....." is great stuff. Great use of close ups to bring up the physical proximity of Raju and Rosie, contrasted with their mental aloofness. Hemlata >> Another welcome change from the "mai and sharaab and ruuthna and maanaana and husn, etc" Roopa >> Now that's a truly lovely couplet! Me >> This clue was a last minute inclusion (on Renu's encouragement). --------------------------------- 23. jis tan ko chhuaa tune, us tan ko chhupaayun jis man ko laage nainaa, woh kisko dikhaayun This one is from a Gulzar's movie. [22/29] Song: Din huuN huuN kare, ghabaraaye... Film: Rudaali Singer(s): Bhupen Hazarika/Lata Music: Bhupen Hazarika Lyrics: Gulzar --------------------------------- 24. muskaati ithalaaTi gaati aayii zulfen khole koyaliyaa chup ho jaaye jab usaki paayal bole mujhe dikhaa ke pyaar bhare do nainaa bhole-bhole... ...[you won my heart!] Carefully look at the extremes of Sharmo-haaya. You may something personal there. ^^^^^^^^ => ^ ^^^^ ^^^^^^^^ ==> "S" + "aaya" ==> "Saaya" ==> "Mera Saaya" (personal Saaya) [12/29] Song: Nainon vaalii ne haaye meraa dil luuTa Film: Mera Saaya Singer(s): Lata Music: Madan Mohan Lyrics: Raja Mehdi Ali Khan Me >> This was a "Times of India..crossword" style cryptic clue. :) --------------------------------- 25. Janam janam ki pyaas re saajan Pal mein bujhegi kaise... ? Last words of this clue should be a give away. Hai na ? ^^^^^^^^^^ ======> ^^^^^^ There are two songs in which "Hai na?" appears repeatedly in the mukhDa. The other song is from Andaz [Mummy ko papa se..]. [3/29] Song: Ek Daal par tota bole, ek daal par maina door door baithe hain lekin, pyaar to phir bhi hai na? bolo .. hai na? hai na ... bolo ... hai na ? Film: Chor machaaye shor Singer(s): Lata, Rafi Music: Ravindra Jain Lyrics: Indrajit Tulsi Roopa >> Ek daal par tota bole. [Just guessing, from the hai na] Me>> Though a difficult clue, I was disappointed that only a couple understood the cryptic part. Of those two, one guessed the movie to be Andaz. --------------------------------- 26. Laakh zanjeeron mein jakDen ye zamaane waale toD kar bandh nikal aayenge aane waale _Shart_ itni hai ki tu jalwaanumaa ho jaaye! Sounds like a typical Majnu of an Indian movie. A Lata-Rafi duet. ^^^^^ ==> "Laila Majnu" [9/29] Song: Ab agar hamase Kudaaii bhii Khafa ho jaaye Film: Laila Majnu Singer(s): Rafi, Lata Music: Madan Mohan & Jaidev Lyrics: Sahir Me>> Again surprised, at the low hit ratio here. Even Sami didn't get this... surprising...considering he is a Sahir and Rafi fan. --------------------------------- 27. dilkash bahaaron men, chhupake chhanaaron men Yun hi sadaa hum tum...baithe rahen gum-sum Woh bewafaa..jo kahe humko jaana hai Bewafaa defined beautifully by a "crazy heart". ^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "...dil diwaana ...." [13/27] Song: Yeh dil diivaanaa hai, dil to diivaanaa hai diivaanaa dil hai, yeh dil diivaanaa hai Film: Ishq par zor nahiin Singer(s): Lata, Rafi Music: S.D. Burman Lyrics: Anand Bakhshi --------------------------------- 28. na ye aansuun ruke, to dekhiye phir hum bhi ro denge! hum apne aasuyon mein chand taaron ko duboo denge fanaah ho jayegi saari khudaai.. This sweet dhamki comes from a rather simple-looking actress. Who is she trying to threathen ? ^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Woh kaun thi" "simple-looking" ==> SaadharaN ==> "Sadhana" [18/29] Song: Jo hamane daastaan apanii sunaayii, aap kyuuN roye Film: Woh kaun thi? Singer(s): Lata Music: Madan Mohan Lyrics: Raja Mehdi Ali Khan Me>> My apologies if the above "simple-looking" clue caused some confusion.:) --------------------------------- 29. jinakii nigaahon ne ghaayal kiyaa lenge unhiin se dil kii davaa na hum muskuuraate na woh paas aate usii kii milii hai hamako sazaa ..... kyaa karen ? Yahoo-D! No, not Shammi Kapoor. This one stars a Kumar, the name ^^^^^^^ beginning with "D". ==> "Yahoodii" (Dilip Kumar) [11/29] Song: Merii jaaN merii jaaN pyaar kissi se ho hii gayaa hai ham kyaa kare.n Film: Yahuudii Singer(s): Lata Music: Shankar Jaikishan Lyrics: Shailendra Dhanashri >> From the clue looks like its from Yehudi , but by limited database/resources cannot trace down the song. --------------------------------- 30. M: Bewafaa tum nahin, bewafaa hum nahin phir ye jazbaat kyon so gaye ? F: Pyar tumko bhi hai, pyaar humko bhi hai.. faasle phir ye kyon ho gaye ? [14/29] Song: Ye bata de mujhe zindagi, pyaar ki raah ke humsafar Film: Saath-Saath Singer(s): Jagjit-Chitra Singh Music: Kuldeep Singh Lyrics: Javed Akhtar ============================================================================== T1. Kiski preet bhulaayon, kisko meet banaayun .. A terrific Mukesh solo. [12/29] Song: Kaii baar yuuN hii dekhaa hai Film: Rajanigandha Singer(s): Mukesh Music: Salil Chowdhury Lyrics: Yogesh --------------------------------- T2. Main bhi tere sang hun dono aankh meech ke .. This one is a toughie. The movie is some God's name. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Shiva" [0/29] Song: Aanando Bramhaa Govindo-haari ... dil waalon ki hai ye duniya saari Film: Shiva Singer(s): Kavita Krishnamurthy Music: Ilaiya Raaja Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri --------------------------------- T3. Mil yun ki dauD jaayen....nas nas mein bijliyaan A recent movie. Shhhh! No more hints for this one. [15/29] Song: Baahon ke darmiyaan, do pyaar mil rahen hain... Film: Khamoshi Singer(s): Hariharan, Alka Yagnik Music: Jatin Lalit Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri --------------------------------- T4. Bejaan rah gaye hum, woh muskuraa rahi hai Pick one from Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar each. ^^^ ^^^^^ ==> "Rajkumar" [18/29] Song: Tumane kisii kii jaan ko jaate hue dekhaa hai Film: Raajkumar Singer(s): Rafi Music: Shankar Jaikishan Lyrics: Hasrat --------------------------------- T5. Kyon karne lagi main tumpe aitbaar ? Because I love you? ^^^^^^^^^^ ==> "Maine Pyaar kiya" [15/29] Song: Aate Jaate..Haste Gaate...Socha tha maine man mein kai baar Film: Maine Pyaar Kiya Singer(s): Lata Music: Ramlaxman Lyrics: Dev Kohli Anand Tiwari >>>>>>>>>> My favoutite song from MPK. Lata has the better antara. The song does not come out as beautifully as its counterpart in HAHK "Bechaain hai meri nazar" . It should be remembered that Sooraj Barjatya wanted "Aate jaate..." to be picturized in the fashion "Bechain hai.." was (closeup of Salman and Madhuri with a bluish background) but decided against it as he thought that the picturization would loose effect since both Salman and Bhagyashree were relatively new to the audience. The lyrics fit well into the tune "Tum kaun ho, batla to do Kyun karne lagi main tum pe aitbaar Khamosh rahoon, ya main keh doon ya kar loon main chupke se yeh sweekar" For me the common factor in both MPK and HAHK were the title songs. In both films my expectations were raised skyhigh after the title sequence but they came crashing down 10 minutes into the film. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ================================================================================== ================================================================================== %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Rmim Jhim Geeton Ki - 44 Lovely Couplets RESULTS ======= %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% So, now comes the interesting part. Great show! ================================================================================= ================================================================================= In the end, thanks to everyone for participation. I am glad everyone enjoyed the quiz. For the last dose of poetry.....let me end this quiz with a marvellous (yet very simple) piece from W.B. Yeats. Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
